My #1 Favorite Seaweed Tteokbokki in Korea: Mami Tteok (Bundang_Seohyeon)

Aloha~ 🌺

Today, I’m introducing my absolute favorite table-top tteokbokki (jeukseok tteokbokki) spot in all of Bundang and Seongnam!

It’s famous for its unique "Seaweed Tteokbokki," but honestly, the taste itself is just sheer perfection. It’s crazy delicious!!

A certified local gem praised by famous food YouTubers! A guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

I’m not the only one who thinks so—famous Korean food YouTuber "Tteokbokqueen" also highly praised it! This place is 100% guaranteed to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. Let’s meet the pride of Seohyeon Station, Mami Tteok!

Located right near Seohyeon Station AK Plaza. Super easy to find!

This Seohyeon Station restaurant is located right near the AK Plaza. A little tip: it used to be called "Mario Tteokbokki," so keep that in mind if you're looking for the sign. I’m guessing "Mami Tteok" is short for "MArio MIyeok (seaweed) Tteokbokki" lol.

Visit slightly after the lunch rush to enjoy a relaxed meal.

It gets absolutely packed during the lunch rush, so we went a little later and enjoyed a nice, relaxing vibe~ If you do an open-run, you won’t have to wait in line at all!

A cozy interior filled with cute, retro Korean vibes.

The interior is super cute and cozy~ It’s filled with retro props that bring back nostalgic school days in Korea, and the staff are always so incredibly friendly no matter how many times I visit!

Korea’s first-ever Seaweed Tteokbokki!! Honestly, I have a pretty sensitive palate, so before my first visit, I was super worried it might taste too fishy or overwhelming. But seriously, you don’t need to worry about that at all!

Unlimited free fried rice?! The ultimate cost-effective menu at Mami Tteok.

Looking at the menu, it’s 14,000 KRW for 2 people. The best part? Almost all the extra toppings are already included, and the DIY fried rice is unlimited and FREE! The value for money here is insane!! But it’s no secret that their side menus, like the deep-fried green onions and enoki mushrooms, are so incredibly tempting that you just have to order them lol.

My top recommendation is the 'Mami Flower Set for 2' (18,000 KRW). It includes seaweed tteokbokki for two, plus fried green onions and fried enoki mushrooms. (Pro tip: Grab the free 'mini sundae skewer' coupon on Naver Places if you have a big appetite!) You can also adjust the spice level, so the mild version is totally safe for kids. It's a great spot for a family Bundang tteokbokki outing~

A pot overflowing with tteokbokki and generous basic toppings!

Ta-da!! Here is our 2-person portion! Let me break down what’s inside: rice cakes, ramen, jjolmyeon (chewy noodles), fish cake noodles, bean sprouts, seasoned seaweed, potato dough dumplings, and flat fish cakes... They pack it with so many ingredients, I still don't understand how they offer the fried rice for free. Thank you so much, owner ㅠㅠ!

The bean sprouts and seaweed create an incredibly deep and refreshing broth!

The bean sprouts and seaweed blend perfectly without overpowering each other. If you’re sensitive to smells or tastes, please don’t hesitate to try this~ It’s so hard to find a Bundang tteokbokki with such a deep, savory broth!

Once it boils, scoop out the noodles first~ The rice cakes here are a bit thick, so if you save them for last, they’ll absorb all the amazing umami sauce and taste even better!

I absolutely love jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) in table-top tteokbokki, and Mami Tteok gives you plenty by default! The sauce isn’t overly sweet or aggressively spicy; it’s just the perfect amount of savory umami. These days, so many places just make their food painfully spicy or artificially sweet, which makes the deep flavor of this Seohyeon Station restaurant all the more precious~

Mami Tteok's cheat codes! Crispy fried green onions and enoki mushrooms.

And you absolutely cannot miss the most popular side dishes at Mami Tteok: the Fried Green Onions and Fried Enoki Mushrooms!!!

The batter absorbs the broth really fast, so just lightly dip them one piece at a time lol. If you throw them all in at once, they’ll get soggy!

When the crispy fried bits mix into the broth, it adds a rich, savory oiliness that elevates the soup to a crazy new level! The fried green onions, in particular, are a must-order!

The broth has reduced perfectly! Hahaha~ Writing this review and looking at the pictures makes me want to run back there right now~

Soft and incredibly chewy wheat rice cakes (mil-tteok).

These are delicious wheat rice cakes (mil-tteok) that have soaked up all the flavorful sauce~

Time for the grand finale: Unlimited DIY Fried Rice!

Now, let’s move on to the grand finale: the unlimited fried rice! Leave a couple of rice cakes in the pan and chop them up~ Then throw in the rice, furikake, sesame oil, and seaweed flakes. Don't forget to chop up some pickled radish (danmuji) and toss it in—it adds an amazing crunchy texture!

Mix the rice, ingredients, and leftover sauce vigorously.

Turn on the heat and mix the rice, ingredients, leftover sauce, and chopped rice cakes all together~

The authentic "K-Dessert," pressed down firmly to get that crispy bottom.

Spread it thin and press it down hard against the pan to get that crispy bottom. This is what we call the true "K-Dessert" in Korea lol!

The addictive taste that makes you scrape the bottom of the pan.

Now, it’s a game of who can scrape the bottom of the pan the fastest hahahaha!

As expected... the fried rice is the absolute best part! It’s honestly a crime if you leave without eating this "dessert" just because you're full!! lol

I’ve visited quite a few well-known table-top tteokbokki places in Seongnam and Bundang, hoping to find that nostalgic childhood taste, but they always felt like they were missing something. But Mami Tteok? It has completely settled into my heart as the #1 Bundang tteokbokki spot.

Compared to any other tteokbokki place out there, the taste here is just unmatched for me! If you love Korean street food or tteokbokki, you HAVE to visit when you’re near Seohyeon Station. Let me know what you think in the comments!
