A Little Piece of London in Seoul: Bittersalt, a Pet-Friendly Terrace Cafe (Songridan-gil)

Aloha~ 🌺

Today, I’m introducing a hidden gem in Songridan-gil that is absolutely perfect for this warm spring weather! It’s a house-converted cafe with a massive outdoor terrace, and it’s even pet-friendly. Here is my honest review of 'Bittersalt', a cafe filled with a relaxing, European vibe~

How is everyone’s week going? The weather has been so gorgeous lately that it feels like a waste to stay indoors. While looking for a sunlit cafe with a nice terrace for my hangout in Songridan-gil, I stumbled upon 'Bittersalt'!

1. European Vibe Reminiscent of Hampstead Heath, London 🏡

Bittersalt is a cafe built by fully renovating an old house. While most cafes in Songridan-gil are quite small and crowded, I was completely shocked by how spacious their front yard terrace is!

From the exterior to the interior details, it instantly reminded me of the old, cozy pubs right in front of Hampstead Heath park from back when I lived in London. It’s a space filled with a charming, vintage European aesthetic~

2. Private Rooms & Sunlit Interiors ✨

Once you step inside, the space isn't just one large open hall. They kept the original room structure of the house, dividing the seating into private rooms. It makes it so easy to have quiet conversations without being disturbed by the tables next to you!

Best of all, the natural sunlight pouring through the windows makes it a perfect "lighting spot."

3. Attention Dog Lovers! Pet-Friendly Etiquette 🐶

This cafe is proudly pet-friendly and welcomes all breeds, but they manage it meticulously to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay. If you’re bringing your furry friend, make sure to check these rules before visiting!

  • Proof of Vaccination is REQUIRED: You must show it to the staff upon entry. (Don't miss this, or you won't be able to enter!)

  • Carriers/Strollers Needed: Dogs are not allowed to roam freely inside; they must be in a kennel or pet stroller.

  • Pet Parking: When ordering at the counter, please leave your dog at the designated "Pet Parking" zone.

  • Always throw pet waste bags in the designated outdoor trash cans, and manage your dog so they don't disturb other tables!

Because it's so well-managed, both dog owners and non-dog owners can relax comfortably here~

4. An Impressive Brunch Menu: From Sandwiches to Pasta 📋

I was genuinely surprised when I saw the menu at the counter. I thought it was just a spot for a light coffee, but their brunch lineup rivals any fine restaurant!

They have a variety of Sandwiches using their signature ciabatta (Apple Ricotta, Homemade Jambon, Truffle Mushroom, etc.), hearty Pastas (Shrimp Arugula Oil, Jambon Cream, etc.), along with salads, warm homemade soups, and French toast.

Just reading the names made my mouth water! Thankfully, they have a highly visual menu board with pictures, making it so much easier to choose. It's a fantastic spot if you want to grab a full brunch meal!

5. A Bakery Lineup Like a European Bakery 🥐

Near the counter, they have an array of ciabatta and desserts displayed so beautifully that it looks like a rustic neighborhood bakery in Europe!

Their ciabatta sandwiches are highly popular as meal replacements, but their signature dessert, 'New York Grandma's Carrot Cake', is a massive hit for being sweet and incredibly soft. It’s the perfect lineup to pair with coffee.

6. Coffee on a Breezy Spring Terrace

Since it was a flawless spring day, we grabbed a seat on the wide outdoor terrace without a second thought. We ordered a refreshing Iced Americano and a nutty Cafe Latte.

Sitting under the warm sunshine, feeling the spring breeze while sipping coffee... it felt like paradise~ Even though it’s right in the middle of the bustling Songridan-gil, the atmosphere is so tranquil and peaceful. It was the perfect city escape.

If you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy a relaxed, European vibe on a spacious terrace (perhaps with your cute dog!), I highly recommend the house-converted cafe, Bittersalt! On a sunny day, make sure to grab a terrace seat~
